Elizabeth "Betty" J. Wright, 81, of McGraw, NY, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, September 2, 2010, at Cortland Regional Medical Center, Cortland, NY.
Betty was born in Preston, NY on February 12, 1929, a daughter of the late Leon and Irene Rackett Eccleston. A lifelong resident of the area, she was a member of the Church at Freetown. She was a past president and member of the Milo C. Neeley American Legion Auxiliary, McGraw. She retired from the McGraw Central School District in 1999 after several years of service and prior to that, was employed at St. Mary's School, Cortland.
She is survived by her children, Mike (Stephanie) Wright of Lexington, KY, Marilyn (Alan) Cook of Pitcher, Larry (Tammy) Wright of McGraw, and Leigh (Shelby) Wright of Pitcher. She also leaves behind 10 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren; a sister, Elsie (Lauren) Stanard of Fulton; brothers, Dewey (Phyllis) Eccleston of Taylor, Robert (Mary) Eccleston of Cincinnatus, and Llewelyn (Susan) Eccleston of Albany; several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
She was predeceased by brothers, Gerald and Clifford, and a sister, Mary Rice.
Funeral services will be held at the K.L. Sharp Funeral Home, Cincinnatus, NY on Monday, September 6, 2010, at 1:00 p.m. with Reverend Ken Lane officiating. Burial will be in Taylor Rural Cemetery. The family will be present to receive friends at the funeral home on Monday from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 1:00 p.m.
