Eileen F. Callaghan, 86, of Cincinnatus, NY, passed away on Wednesday, February 3, 2021, at the Guthrie Cortland Regional Medical Center, Cortland, NY.
Born in the Bronx, NY, on July 13, 1934, Eileen was the daughter of the late Joseph and Edria Armstrong Callaghan. She was a communicant of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church where she served as a Eucharistic Minister and sang in the choir. She proudly served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean Conflict and was a member of the Knickerbocker American Legion Post. She retired from SUNY Binghamton where she had worked as a library clerk. In her spare time, she volunteered for the American Red Cross.
She is survived by her life partner, Doris Russell, of Cincinnatus; and her children, Timothy (Mary) Mark of Pharsalia and Kathy (Ben) Beams of Cortland. She also leaves behind her grandchildren, Sheryl (Dan) Brown of Cambridge, Christopher Beams of Matthews, NC, Melissa (Chad) Mark of UT, Edria Mark of Cooperstown, Heather (Matt) Tuttle of Greene, and others; a brother, Christopher (Loretta) Callaghan of Latham; and many great-grandchildren.
The family will be present to receive friends at the K.L. Sharp Funeral Home, Cincinnatus, NY, on Sunday, February 7, 2021, from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. NY State Covid-19 guidelines will be followed. Masks must be worn and social distancing will be in place. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church on Monday at 11:00 a.m. with Reverend Douglas Cunningham, celebrant. Burial will be in Wayside Rest Cemetery in the spring. Expressions of sympathy in memory of Eileen may be directed to the ASPCA, 879 McLean Road, Cortland, NY 13045.
