Dorothy M. Walls

Dorothy M. (Shufelt) Walls, 92, of Willet, NY, passed away on Monday, November 20, 2017, at St. Joseph’s Hospital, Syracuse, NY.

Mrs. Walls was born in Taylor, NY, on November 16, 1925, the daughter of the late Norman and Vera Hilsinger Shufelt.  A lifetime resident of the area, she was a 1943 graduate of Cincinnatus Central School and a life member of the Willet Methodist Church.  Dorothy enjoyed quilting and spending time at the Willet/Cincinnatus Sr. Center playing cards.

She is survived by her daughters, Linda Walls of Cortland, Penny (John) Dietrich and friend David Beckwith of Cortland, and Candace Walls of Willet.  She also leaves behind her grandchildren, Kim Kretschman, Mark and Jody Fitzgerald, and Pamela Ciresi; five great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Ernest, on January 17, 1996; sisters, Doris Yacavone, and Verlyn Cornelius; and brothers, Duane (Doc), Raymond, and Leon Shufelt.

Funeral services will be held at the K.L. Sharp Funeral Home, Cincinnatus, NY, on Friday, November 24, 2017, at 12:00 noon with Reverend Thanna Howell officiating.  Burial will be in Willet Cemetery.  The family will be present to receive friends at the funeral home prior to the service on Friday from 11:00 a.m. until 12:00 noon.  Expressions of sympathy in memory of Dorothy may be directed to the Willet Rescue Squad, c/o Margaret Yarnes, P.O.
