Deborah L. McUmber, 61, of Pitcher, NY, passed away on Thursday, August 21, 2014, at Wilson Memorial Hospital, Johnson City, NY, following a brief illness.
Deb was born in Cortland, NY, on February 13, 1951, the daughter of the late Ernest and Marlea Underwood Bilodeau. She was also a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Fireman’s Association of the State of NY and past president of the Cortland County Ladies Auxiliary. In her spare time she enjoyed coaching soccer and softball and being a member of the Seven Valley Whirl-a-Way Square Dance Club.
She is survived by her husband of 45 years, Mearland “Butch” McUmber and her children, Mellisa Rice, Joseph (Samantha Peterson) McUmber, Ernest McUmber, and Christopher McUmber, all of Pitcher. She also leaves behind her brothers, Michael Bilodeau of Taylor and Raymond Bilodeau of Homer; a sister, Marlene (Charles) Parks of McGraw; a half-brother, Kurt (Cheryl) Williams of McGraw; several grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
In addition to her parents, she was also predeceased by a granddaughter, Meghan McUmber, and several aunts and uncles.
Funeral services will be held at the K.L. Sharp Funeral Home, Cincinnatus, NY, on Thursday, August 28, 2014, at 11:00 a.m., with Reverend Palmer Neumeister officiating. Burial will be in Pitcher Cemetery. The family will be present to receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Expressions of sympathy in memory of Deb may be sent to the Cortland Co. Ladies Auxiliary.
