David P. Rowe

August 8, 1950 — September 25, 2016

David P. Rowe, 66, of South Otselic, NY, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, September 25, 2016, at Upstate University Hospital, Syracuse, NY.

David was born in Cortland, NY, on August 8, 1950, a son of Burton Elias and Alice Yarrison Rowe.  A longtime resident of the area, he was a graduate and class valedictorian from Marathon Central School’s Class of 1968.  He worked as a self-employed carpenter in the Hamilton, NY, area, as well as other areas throughout the region.  David had a strong passion for music and enjoyed performing on the acoustical guitar with local pick-up bands at various venues throughout the area.

In addition to his mother, Alice Rowe, of Virgil, he is survived by his children, Heather (Jonathan) Bagley-Rowe, of Pacific Grove, CA, Kirsten (Al) Pagan, of Marathon, and Shawn (Rebecca Knickerbocker) Rowe, of S. Otselic.  He also leaves behind his grandsons, Nathan and Theodore; and his sisters, Jeannie (Leonard) Phillips of Marathon and Gail Rowe of Mars, PA.

He was predeceased by his father, Burton Elias Rowe.

A memorial service will be held on Thursday, September 29, 2016, at 11:00 a.m. at the Marathon Civic Center, Marathon, NY.  A time of remembrance will be held at David's home, 193 Bowen Hill Road, South Otselic, NY, on Friday, September 30, 2016, beginning at 12:00 p.m.  For additional information, please contact his daughter, Kirsten Pagan, at (607) 849 6461.  Expressions of sympathy in memory of David may be made to a charity that will serve to benefit a school music program, an ag-tech program, or a green environmental program.
