Darlene R. Yager, 61, of Pitcher, NY, passed away on Friday, October 2, 2009, at St. Joseph's Hospital, Syracuse, NY, while surrounded by her family.
Darlene was born in Johnson City, NY on February 10, 1948, a daughter of the late Walter and Louise Bishop Dykeman. A 1966 graduate of Cincinnatus Central School, she owned and operated the Lace Carousel, Cincinnatus, prior to its closing. She was a member of the Fingerlakes Decorative Artists and the National Society of Decorative Painters. Darlene was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother who loved the beauty of birds and flowers.
She is survived by her husband of 42 years, Charles J. Yager, of Pitcher; a daughter, Janet L. (Gary) Zimmerman of Saratoga Springs; and a son, Charles W. (Molly) Yager of Amherst. She also leaves behind her grandchildren, Riley and Emily Yager, and Ryan and Amanda Zimmerman; a brother, Ernest "Corky" (Mary) Dykeman of Virgil; many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by a sister, Dianne Roher, and brothers, Bruce and David Dykeman.
Funeral services will be held at the K.L. Sharp Funeral Home, Cincinnatus, NY on Tuesday, October 6, 2009, at 11:00 a.m. with Fred M.S. Downs officiating. Burial will be in Pitcher Cemetery. The family will be present to receive friends at the funeral home on Monday from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Expressions of sympathy in memory of Darlene may be made to the Cincinnatus Emergency Squad, c/o Elaine Oros, 5771 McFarlane Road, Cincinnatus, NY 13040.
