Christine A. (Tessman) Barrett, born on May 29, 1936, in Bristol, CT, passed away peacefully at her home on Thursday, November 14,2024. She was a beloved figure in her community, known for her warmth, kindness, and unwavering commitment to her family and faith.
A dedicated member of the United Methodist Church of South Otselic, Christine previously attended the United Methodist Church of Pharsalia. She, along with her husband of 61 years, Adrian "Sonny" Barrett, operated a dairy farm. Together, they cultivated a life that exemplified hard work and devotion. Christine was also an active member of the Ladies Home Bureau of South Otselic, where she made lasting connections with those who shared her passions.
Christine cherished her hobbies, finding joy in jigsaw puzzles and immersing herself in books. She proudly supported her favorite baseball team, the Chicago Cubs, demonstrating her spirited personality and love for the game.
She is survived by her loving children: Dorothy (Ron) Smith of Cincinnatus, Rose (Norman) Tracy of Cortland, and Michael Barrett of Cortland. Christine also leaves behind her sister, Barbara Tessman Gualducci of Waterbury, CT, and her sister, Dorothy (Ricky) Hawley of New Hartford, CT. Her legacy is further carried on by her seven grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren, four great-great-grandchildren with one more on the way, all of whom held a special place in her heart.
Christine was preceded in death by her parents, Edward Tessman and Maude Edith Sanford Tessman, her husband Sonny, her daughter Bonnie Hill, and her grandson Matthew Francisco. She also mourned the loss of her siblings: Shirley Rodenbaugh, Milton Tessman, Norman Tessman, Franklin Tessman, Richard Tessman, and Donald Tessman.
A period of visitation will be held on Saturday, November 23, 2024, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the K. L. Sharp Funeral Home, Cincinnatus, NY, followed by a memorial service at 1:00 p.m. with Jeanne Angell officiating. Burial will follow in Wayside Rest Cemetery. Immediately following the burial, friends are invited to join the family at the Cincinnatus Fire Station to share in fellowship.
