Charles H. Cruikshank, Jr.

Charles H. Cruikshank, Jr., 71, of Norwich, NY, passed away on Tuesday, January 18, 2022, at the Chenango Memorial Hospital, Norwich, NY.

Born in Durhamville, NY, on March 15, 1950, Charles was the son of the late Charles H. Cruikshank, Sr. and Wanda Armstrong Cruikshank. He proudly served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam Era Conflict and was stationed in Vietnam. He was actively involved with the Vietnam Veterans of America organization. Charles was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting with his brother. He also loved being out and about and spent much time driving around and finding yard sales. The highlight of his life was his grandchildren and he cherished them dearly. A loving father and grandfather, he will be dearly missed by his family.

He is survived by his children, Hilary (T.J.) Ciaravino of Vestal, and Todd (Erin) Cruikshank of Syracuse. He also leaves behind his grandchildren, Emma and Thomas Ciaravino, and Sara, Paige and Claire Cruikshank; a brother, David (Tina) Cruikshank of North Pitcher; a sister, Susan Clark of North Carolina; the mother of his children, Judy Cruikshank of Syracuse; a special friend Stan; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a sister, Diana Custer, in 2020.

Funeral services will be held at the K.L. Sharp Funeral Home, Cincinnatus, NY, on Saturday, January 22, 2022, at 3:00 p.m., with Reverend Will Gallerani officiating. Burial will be in North Pitcher Cemetery at a later date. The family will be present to receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday from 1:00 p.m. until the start of the service at 3:00 p.m. Expressions of sympathy in memory of Charles may be directed to the Vietnam Veterans Association of America, 8719 Colesville Road – Suite 100, Silver Spring, MD 20910 or by visiting www.vva.org.
