Carlton “Farmer” W. Strough, 89, formerly of Freetown, NY, passed away on Friday, March 20, 2015, at the Cortland Park Rehab and Nursing Center.
Born in Willet, NY on March 5, 1926, Mr. Strough was a son of the late Roland and Catherine Howland Strough. A lifelong resident of this area, he proudly served in the U.S. Army in the European Theater during WWII.
He is survived by his children, Dawn Plummer of S. Otselic, Sandra (Edward) Holmes of Dryden, Steven (Shirlene) Strough of Freetown, and Debra (Art) Hawley of E. Freetown. He also leaves behind a brother, Charles (Eleanor) Strough of Willet; sisters, Joyce Brown and Irma Kenyon, both of Willet; 11 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and stepdaughters, Dixie Sallis and Jenny Brown.
He was predeceased by the mother of his children, Lucille Strough; a brother, Robert Strough; and his companion, Linda Fosgate.
Funeral services will be held at the K.L. Sharp Funeral Home, Cincinnatus, NY on Friday, March 27, 2015, at 3:00 p.m. with Reverend Jim Moore officiating. Burial will be in Marathon Cemetery at a later date. The family will be present to receive friends at the funeral home prior to the service on Friday from 2:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. Expressions of sympathy in memory of Mr. Strough may be directed to the Cortland Park Activities Fund, 93 Clinton Ave., Cortland, NY 13045.
