Betsy Ann Brewer

Betsy Ann (Thorington) Brewer, 88, of Norwich, NY, passed away on Monday, November 25, 2024, at her home.  

Born in Cortland, NY, on November 22, 1936, Betsy was one of eight children born to the late Alfred and Velma Soules Thorington.  Prior to her retirement, she had worked at Smith-Corona for many years and later at Highgate Manor Nursing Home.  Betsy was an extremely strong woman who raised seven children by herself.  She found pleasure in listening to country music.

She is survived by her children, Glenn Brewer of Norwich, Joanna Malquist of McDonough, Richard Brewer of Norwich, and Lori Leech of Oxford.  She also leaves behind several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by a daughter, Robin Brewer; sons, Kim Brewer and Steve Brewer; grandsons, Damion and Gunhar; and all of her siblings.

In keeping with her wishes, there will be no services.  Expressions of sympathy in memory of Betsy may be directed to the Chenango County SPCA, 6160 County Road 32, Norwich, NY 13815.
