Bessie J. (Ford) Freeman, 91, of McGraw, NY, passed away peacefully on Friday, October 7, 2022, at the Cortland Park Rehabilitation and Nursing Center, Cortland, NY.
Born in the Town of Taylor, NY, on January 13, 1931, Bessie was the daughter of the late Claude and Lena Hillsinger Ford. A lifelong resident of the area, she was a member of the E. Homer United Methodist Church where she taught Sunday School. She retired from Tuscarora Plastics in Cortland after several years of service. She had previously been active with the McGraw Sr. Center.
She is survived by her daughter, Jackie Brown, of Cortland; her granddaughter, Angela (James, Jr.) Grant of Homer; and great-grandsons, Storm, Brandon, and Michael Grant, all of Homer. She also leaves behind a sister, Leona Sutton, of Cuyler; and a daughter-in-law, Carol Freeman, of McGraw.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Robert Freeman; a son, Leon “Bubby” Freeman; a grandson, Robert “Raz” Freeman; a son-in-law, Malcolm Brown; and several siblings.
Funeral services will be held at the K.L. Sharp Funeral Home, Cincinnatus, NY, on Wednesday, October 12, 2022, at 11:00 a.m. with Reverend Vern Groves officiating. Burial will be in Taylor Rural Cemetery. There will be no prior calling hours. Expressions of sympathy in memory of Bessie may be directed to the E. Homer United Methodist Church, 2642 State Route 13, Cortland, NY 13045.
