Anna Lee Pierce, 81, of Clay, NY, and formerly of McGraw, NY, passed away on Monday, September 19, 2022, at Crouse Hospital, while surrounded by her loving family.
Born in Elizabethtown, NY, on March 15, 1941, Mrs. Pierce was the daughter of the late Ford and Georgianna Thompson Anson. She was a longtime member of the McGraw United Methodist Church. Prior to her retirement, she had taught almost every elementary grade for the Cincinnatus Central School District. Mrs. Pierce loved to teach; a passion that continued long after her retirement. She spent a great deal of time with the youth of the community and was actively involved in the “Quilts 4 Kids by Kids” where she taught youths of all ages to art of quilting. She also enjoyed sewing and baking.
She is survived by her loving husband of 59 years, Edwin Pierce; and her children, LeeAnne (Richard) Lane of Liverpool, Amy (Jeffrey) Rybak of Cheektowaga, and Laura Pierce of W. Palm Beach, FL. She also leaves behind five grandchildren; a brother, Ford “Stanley” (Judy) Anson of Plattsburgh; sisters, Virginia Pierce of Plattsburgh, Alma Zyko of CT, Norma Arsenault of Westport, and Sarah (Michael) Noll of NC; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Memorial services for Mrs. Pierce will be held at the McGraw United Methodist Church on Sunday, October 9, 2022, at 3:00 p.m. with Reverend Hyun-Joon Kim officiating. Immediately following the memorial service, the family will receive friends in the fellowship room for a period of two hours.
