Alisha A. (Brown) Jencks, 69, of Cincinnatus, NY, passed away on Tuesday, March 5, 2024, at Wilson Memorial Hospital, Johnson City, NY, following a brief illness.
Alisha was born in Norwich, NY, on September 9, 1954, one of 12 children born to Crumbwell and Ethel Foster Brown. A lifelong resident of the area, she was a 1972 graduate of Cincinnatus Central School and a member of the First Baptist Church of Cincinnatus. For the past 30 years, she has owned and operated Stonehedges Gift Barn in Cincinnatus. Prior to that, she had worked at JTS Lumber in Cortland for many years. She was fond of all her animals, especially her feline companion, Henry.
She is survived by her life partner, Jimmy Stafford, of Cincinnatus, a loving daughter, Terri (Jonathan) Valentine of Cortland; and the lights of her life, her grandsons Wyatt and Silas Valentine. She also leaves behind her sisters, Nancy (Rodney) Schultes of Mt. Upton, Norma (Jack) Stafford of Cincinnatus, and her twin sister, Alice (Mike) Loparco of Cortland; a special niece, Elizabeth Loparco; a special nephew Lin Loparco; a niece, who was like a sister to Alisha, Debbie Wyns; sisters-in-law, Barbara Brown of Oxford, Diane Brown of Cortland, Karen Lightner of Florida, and Joanne Garringer of Willet; extended family, RaeLynn (Jim) Hundley of Afton, CarriLynn (Charles Loomis) Stafford of Pitcher, and Cole (Desi) Stafford of Willet; several other nieces, nephews and cousins.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her brothers, Mahlon, Truman, Clesson, Marris, Arden, Noyce, Clement, and Philip; and a half sister, Theodora Ashton.
The family will be present to receive friends at the K.L. Sharp Funeral Home, Cincinnatus, NY, on Wednesday, March 13, 2024, from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held at the First Baptist Church of Cincinnatus on Thursday, March 14, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. with Reverend Palmer Neumeister officiating.
