It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Alan Blanchard, who left us too soon at the age of 40 after a courageous battle with cancer.
Alan was born in Norwich, NY, on July 26, 1984. He had a passion for bull riding and car mechanics, often found tinkering in the garage or enjoying rodeos. His love for music, especially Breaking Benjamin and Shinedown, was a significant part of his life. Known for his kindness, Alan would give the shirt off his back to anyone in need. He found joy in making others happy, whether through thoughtful gifts or his unwavering support.
A devoted son, partner, brother, and friend, he touched many lives with his generous spirit and loyalty. He is survived by his father, Larry Blanchard; his cherished partner, Meghan Surra; his children, Arianna Blanchard and Gavin Bush; his siblings, Brienna Blanchard-Sautter, Devin Blanchard, and Cameron Blanchard; many aunts, uncles, and cousins; his beloved Australian Zebra Finches, Pip and Squeak, and many friends who will remember his wit and warmth.
He was predeceased by his mother, Jody Loomis Blanchard, on January 25, 2016.
A celebration of his life will be held at a later date. Expressions of sympathy in memory of Alan may be directed to Joey’s Wish, Inc., P.O. Box 372, Elbridge NY 13060.
