Agatino “Lefty” J. Cannetti, 86, of Cincinnatus, NY, passed away on Friday, August 1, 2014, at Cortland Regional Medical Center.
Born in Brooklyn, NY on April 18, 1928, Lefty was the son of late John and Carmela Grasso Cannetti. He was a communicant of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, Cincinnatus, and was instrumental in the construction of the church buildings. He proudly served in the U.S. Army during WWII. Prior to his retirement in 1988, he was a plumber for Lawrence Aviation Industries in Port Jefferson, LI, NY. He was a long-time volunteer at Cortland-Chenango Rural Services.
He is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Elizabeth Cannetti; and his children, Barbara (Edward) Manz of Cincinnatus and Robert Cannetti of Long Island. He also leaves behind a sister Mary Caldrone of Queens; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was also predeceased by a daughter, Carmela Price, in 2012.
Funeral services will be held at the K.L. Sharp Funeral Home, Cincinnatus, NY on Friday, August 8, 2014, at 1:00 p.m. with Reverend Douglas Cunningham officiating. The family will be present to receive friends at the funeral home on Friday from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. prior to the service.
