Adam "Art" Rickert, 82, of Pitcher, NY, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, March 11, 2010, at St. Joseph's Hospital, Syracuse, NY.
Mr. Rickert was born in Brooklyn, NY on February 11, 1928, a son of the late Peter and Alice Breese Rickert. Art served his country in the U.S. Army. He worked with his father as a deep sea fisherman. After that, he worked as a bricklayer and operated a saw mill.
He is survived by his wife of 39 years, Melinda Rickert; four sons, Patrick (Joan) Rickert, Thomas (Darci) Rickert, all of Arizona, Adam of Florida, and Clair (Holly) Rickert of Solon; a daughter, Lynette of Pitcher; 14 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. He also leaves behind a brother, William (Angela) Rickert of Florida; two sisters, Alice Capriotti of NJ and Margaret (William) Turner of Truxton; a brother-in-law, Bruce Peterson of McDonough; a sister-in-law, Dorothy Peterson of Dryden; several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at the K.L. Sharp Funeral Home, Cincinnatus, NY on Monday evening at 7:00 p.m. with Reverend Peter Bush officiating. The family will be present to receive friends at the funeral home from 6:00 p.m. until the start of the service at 7:00 p.m.
